Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, I have been fortunate to experience one of the most beautiful and diverse outdoor playgrounds in the world. When I was a child, my Father fostered my insatiable curiosity in life by taking me to the beach to investigate the tide pools. Thanks to his encouragement, my interest in the natural environment expanded into a passion and inspired me to pursue ocean sciences. As with many things in life, this passion has evolved through time. From oceanography to botany, a few common themes of interest remain: primary productivity (algae and plants), conservation, and the future of our planet’s environment.
With a Masters of Science in Botany within the United Kingdom, my passion for the natural world continues to thrive both in and out of academics as I explore a new outdoor playground. Whether it’s running, cycling, whitewater kayaking, swimming, backpacking or sea kayaking, I like to be as active as possible in my personal time. However, I aim to balance these physically demanding activities with meditation, reading, and yoga. Time is a precious thing and I intend to make the most of each and every day, with the blessings I have been given.
Blessings and Namaste!
